As a child, I was encouraged in my pursuit of art by very talented parents. They were always creating amazing projects from simple, everyday items. It was well-known in our house that "possibilities are only limited to your own creativity". Whether it was an empty butter tub or a broken toy, there was more than one use for everything. The lessons they instilled have followed me through-out life in a variety of situations and artistic mediums. There are limitless resources in everyday life that need to be utilized rather than discarded.
All my materials are gathered locally, repurposed and recycled goods that are deemed trash. With each, I am attempting to bring new appreciation to the handmade and forgotten. My goal is to showcase the natural beauty, intricacy of patterns, striking textures, original craftsmanship and individuality through a variety of visual art mediums and hours of physical labor. I am continually amazed by the end result.
I am most inspired by the beauty in the everyday all around me that goes largely unnoticed. So much of life and history today is viewed as disposable and insignificant in modern times. The goal with my art is to raise awareness of waste and the need to protect precious resources.
